I have fixed two of them, and have a third in the yard. My analysis is the crank that drives the feeder arm system breaks. Watch that 1/4" bolt on the arm that connects the two forks. If it shears or starts to come loose, fix it immediately. On the last one the gears in the gearbox were shot, no lubrication source. I filled mine with corn head grease and sealed it with RTV as best I could. I have found Howard's in Mt Hope, KS to be very helpful with new and used parts. I love my 124, wish I could find a 228 with a wider pickup. Tim
