The fast hitch died because it had limitations. It was not practical to hang the full weight of a 5 or 6 bottom plow on the back of a 66 series tractor. The importance of 3 point hitch on large horsepower tractors has been declining since the late 1970. Semi-integral plows got to be less important and most farms moved away from 3 pt hitch cultivators due to chemical based weed control plus most mowers incorporated a conditioner which meant the weight needed to be carried on a trailer assembly.
