For starters, the fallacy that FDR pulled the nation from the brink of collapse is complete hog wash, there was no imminent collapse in 1932 and his expansion of the federal government by hook or crook started the snowball rolling down hill, the ultimate result being a population shackled to the ever multiplying debt he first precedented, and to no effect. WW II ended the Great Depression, in spite of FDRs policies. Secondly, no US president is now nor has ever been required to get along with anyone, much less continue to try and buy the worlds love with our money, it is not happening, the US president is constitutionally charged to uphold the laws of the USA and provide for the defense of the country and there just ain't much more to it, you may want a president to bow down like a Cooley to every tin pot dictator and Charleton in the world but many people do not. If any presidential candidate was actually serious about turning the Middle East into a sheet of glass he or she would have my vote, hands down.
