Actually about the only chance for a ticket is if an inspector would pull in while you are gassing up. So the odds are slim and none.
On the other hand get in a wreck with a couple of those cans in you truck and if one of those cans has even a little paint left after the ensuing fire liability wise your are in deep manure.
While your repair to the can is inspiring to some and innovative actually using those cans for gas may not be smart.
