I load 40gr Ballistic Tips over a FULL case of IMR 3031 ( that is the way it actually Measures!).
That 40gr Ballistic Point will NOT go through a Ground Hog...the tail just snaps straight up and it's all over..!!
+ the .223 is good for much more than 100 yds and is less likely to be affected by wind-drift.
I have had Good results with the .17 HMR...but I have found that you NEED to fi8le the Tip of the bullet to a 1/64-to 1/32" squared off Point for the bullet to actually "Woirk" and drop a GH Dead in it's tracks..Range is a good 150+ Yards if the wind is not bad.. Definitely more range than a .22LR or .22 MAG.. I always figured my .22 was actually "Good" for 80 yds in reality..anything more requires "Kentucky Windage"...!!
