On my 2520 it have the mechanical lift which is controlled by the 3pt. Raising and lowering the mower deck also raises and lowers the 3pt. So mine is independent of the hydraulics. He has the hydraulic lift option on his which uses the outlets also used by the loader. I won't guarantee this because I don't have that on my tractor but I think the dial is supposed to control how low the deck goes down for how tall you want to mow your grass. It doesn't control the deck. The hydro lever raises and lowers the deck. I also think that it will lock the deck up in transport mode so you can unplug the hydro hose and use the loader. I'm not a fan of having the loader on while I'm mowing personally so I'd remove it. That's just my opinion though. You need to check out another forum called Greentractortalk.com. It's almost devoted to compact utility tractors.
