I found a 12V battery with the end of the case melted away. I suspected that the other cells were OK, they were. I used a sawsall to carefully cut ONLY the plastic case all the way around the 2nd cell, ( beside the melted one) I also cut around the top seam of those dead cells. Then I carefully remove the plastic exposing the plates.Then I cut the plates off of the bottom of lead bar from the 4th/ 5th cell. Rinse the battery thoroughly. To install, connect battery post as usual. other end, strip battery cable insulation off about 1 1/2", now lay the cable on the lead bar, and clamp them together. Good to go!
