Most likely an o-ring. I have a low profile 2 ton jack I bought from Costco that I fixed. It was kind of a pain in the behind to get it apart and back together again. The only reason I fixed it was it was the only jack I could find that will fit under the front of my car. I would go to Harbor Freight and see what they sell for on sale. Used is half the sale price. Used and not working is half of half of sale price.
