Years ago I priced a reman kit for a 400 Cummins and got the best deal at a Freightliner dealer. They didn't have it in stock but said I could take the receipt to Cummins and pick it up.
I asked the guy at Cummins about the price difference and he said that Cummins has a agreement with dealers that they wont under price the dealers. The dealers can mark down Cummins parts but Cummins can not.
I've never owned a Freightliner but always got the best price on Cummins parts from them.
As for reman engines, there's lots of company's out there selling remans. Buy from one that has a good reputation on the quality of their work and how well they stand behind their warranty.
