Yes, if you look closely you can see the 660 drive line is more an extension of the M type design than it is of the W9 type. They seemingly kept the torque loads low and the driveline speed high from the 2400 rpm 6 cyl. engines and made the final reduction in the planetary hubs on the rear drive wheels. No more W9 type drive line usage after the 650 models with their lower rpm 4 cyl. engines. Question....was the 660 made at Rock Island or Milwaukee? IIRC most, if not all W9s were made at Milwaukee, not Rock Island.
