There's nothing special about "methyl hydrate." It's just plain old METHANOL, the alcohol that top fuel dragsters use in their engines.
Many of your "mechanic in a bottle" type products have it as a main ingredient. So if you can't find "methyl hydrate" specifically, just pick up a can of Berryman's B12 Chemtool for $4 at any walmart or auto parts box store, and you'll have pretty much the same thing along with some other helpful solvents that'll flush your carb out clean as a whistle.
