I have been to a number of auctions where there was a reserve on some of the higher valued items. Usually, the auctioneer will offer it to the high bidder at the reserve price if the reserve is not met. I can see the reasoning for having a reserve. It protects the seller from selling an item for a price that is simply too low. But, on the other hand, I see no reason to keep it a secret. Secret reserves annoy me to no end. I figure if that is your price, then why not just save us both a lot of time and aggravation and start there. We can haggle up or down, but I don't like the guessing games.
