I've worked on rotary screw compressors for years. Most of them were running 8 or more hours a day tied to a rock drill. These were used only for flushing the hole. One, in particular, is a 250 CFM Sullair, and it has been running for close to 10 years without issue.
The same customer has several older, high CFM machines, and they ran for a long time running air powered drills. In other words, those compressors both ran the drill, as well as flushed the drill hole. They also ran the air motors, etc on the old Ait-Trac drills they were attached to when moving them around. Once again, those compressors ran for years, at nearly full CFM output, with nothing more than routine maintenance.
In other words, as long as the compressor isn't locked up, or you don't see any other major issues, it ought to last you a long time under no more use than the average person would put on it -vs- running it in a production environment.
If the price is right, and you think you can get the engine running, it sounds to me like it would be a decent machine for occasional use.

The center of any village once the shop is closed is the old tavern. Rustic places with cheerful names like "The Griffin" "Red Lion" or "The Plough and Harrow" are found dotted around the country lanes all over the place. The warm glow of yellowish light can be seen for quite some distance at dusk, and
