It is likely true that both parties were not having the bast day, but that does not excuse the fact that the poster left with an item more expensive (must have been a lot more expensive if it nearly paid for his parts) than what he paid for. I understood it to be a completely different type of item - I don't buy the bait and switch excuse for a second.
Regardless of the manager's attitude, the poster stole the difference.
Now, I understand the frustration of trying to make it right and being rebuffed so I am not so harsh on him for that. But what really gets me is that he came here to brag about it. I cannot understand, or respect, that. I would not have such a man as a friend.
