Something I learned by accident, feed your cows at night or evening and 95% of your calves will be born during the day. I told by vet about calves born during the day and he said feeding at night is known to do that.I have a fall calving herd with most born Aug or Sept. Not sure it is that much better but the cows were priced right when I bought them. Last year we lost three calves out of sixteen. One was born dead and two died at a couple weeks old(healthy one day and dead the next).Vet has a different vac. program for this year.I am not a fan of calving in the mud.
