Yes Ive got the axle clamped hard at onto the brackets at each end so firmly held. Yes door, axle and rise and fall gear all came assembled the only thing to be done or added was cutting and joining the chain to length. The axle cannot now move but the rise and fall gear can be moved outwards from the door but that tends to disengage all of those pinions. I cannot see any hole on the axle but Im thinking there should be so I could pin the rise and fall gearing assemble to the axle and as you say that would seem to allow the planetary mechanisim to transmit power to the door. Think the actual door is made of light steel sections all interlinked to allow it to be rolled up.
