I was going to suggest the national railroad museum as well. Can't quite see it all when it's cold out (lots of trains in unheated sheds) but the Eisenhower and some other very impressive trains are in a nice heated area. The kids loved it, and plan to go back again. Appleton also has a museum that covers local history, such as Harry Houdini, Fox harvesting equipment, paper mills, and the first hydro electric dam.
