When we first bought our JD 4600 we had a lot of corrosion around the battery, and I finally got the dealer to give me new hold down brackets and a different battery. The replacement is a Strongbox with a vent tube like a MC/ATV battery, it has been in 12 years with no corrosion and started after sitting all winter. They had me check for overcharging and that was not the problem, it was just a gassy battery, When the Strongbox fails I am not sure what I will do. If a new Strongbox is under about $125 I might go for another, if it has the fitting for a vent tube. You can't argue with reliability and success!
