Rusty
The original utes here were also modified sedans. We have the remains of a 1926 Dodge that has a flatbed where the rear seat used to be.
The production ones were started by Ford here in response to a farm wife's request for a vehicle that could "take her to church on Sunday and pigs to market on Monday".

That original one is still mobile.
The current version is the Falcon utility, with a payload of up to about 1.2 tons. And the 250 cid six is now dohc, injected (turbo option) etc and a lot more powerful

Holden (local GM) has similar. And we had a line out of local Chrysler as well until about the early 1980's when Mitsubishi bought that operation). No more when local production of both ends soon.
So there is a "collectors double" possible - first and last Ford ute's made in Australia.
And I learned to drive on a 1954 flathead Ford truck.
