OK, the engineering emergency staff meeting is concluded. They issued a 67 page summary of findings, I'll condense it here:
1 - Parts can not be manufactured in the US, but may be manufactured in the land of "allmost right" 2 - Special tool (part number to be specified later) will be required to install hex nuts. 3 - Main body to be painted JD Green to enhance sales and ROI. 4 - Special anti-seize compound will be necessary for nut installation. 5 - Center bolt must be dipped in Blue Paint to enhance installation.
Further recommendations ask a special committee to be formed to write a $30M Dept of Labor proposal to study the effect and to bring the necessary manufacturing capabilities to the US to allow manufacture of similar parts in the future.
Sadly, if submitted, the grant request would undoubtedly be granted......this being an election year and all.....
