I ain't trying to pull anybody's leg with this, but air entrainment can be achieved by adding a detergent. Used to see the mom and pop outfits with a jug of Tide on the truck in case they needed to add air onsite. Typically the spec will call for 3-5% air for exterior slabs, exterior foundation, or exposed footings. If you think about it the detergent is trying to "suds up" in the mix and will carry the air bubbles with it through placing, setting, and curing of the concrete. p.s. Dawn dish soap will also work as belt dressing. Not at first, but after about 3-4 minutes running time it will tack up and pull.
