If you want to control the bend. How ever you want to put pressure on the rods high spot to pressure down. After pressure is applied ping it with a hammer. Tap Tap tap. If you were to have a pressure guage on it while pinging it you would see the pressure drop. Steel is a little harder to ping down than cast iron. Only because steel is say softer than cast. I used to work in a machine shop grinding crankshafts. And learned this while straighten crankshafts. Its alot easier of coarse when on a set of Vee Blocks with a Hydrolic cylinder with a pressure gauge on it but the principle is the same.And working with a dial indicator to see to get it down within 0.003 thousandths
