About 20 years ago I bought an IH 766 on a farm auction. There was no opportunity to really check it out as it was the first item to be auctioned. That is highly unusual and should have rung an alarm for me. It was only about 20 miles away so I went to drive it home. Well, it seemed to me that something was not right--yeah, the TA was going out. (Also had a flat front tire bringing it home!) Well, the price was good if the tractor had been. So, I put about $3,000 more into it and had a good tractor. About 6 months later, out of the blue, I get a call from a finance company (Maybe the PCA, I don't remember) they said they had a lien on the tractor and wanted to resolve the matter. I told them exactly the whole story up to that point, and felt totally beaten until a few days later they called again and said they had resolved the matter and had no further interest in the tractor. Whew!!! I still have the tractor and it's done me well.
