I had one of those a few years ago, selling a $350 part, scammer cut the check for $3500, told me I could keep an extra $150 for troubles and western union the extra $3000 back to them once I cashed the check. Even before I had a check in hand, the whole deal smelled of BS, so I was ready to play.
I messed with these scumbag scammers for a few days, telling them I had cashed the check but couldn't get the transfer through. They resent the details and instructions multiple times. I contacted Local PD, Bank Fraud dept and western union on the scam and nobody seemed interested in the deal.
