Something similar happened to a friend of mine some years back. One Sunday morning he is driving along with another friend headed for breakfast and some guy oncoming crosses the center line, headed right at them. My buddy swerves, goes up on the curb and sidewalk to get away and still got side swiped in his new Ford F150. The cops come out, they exchange insurance information, and not only do they have the same insurance company, but same agent. Some fine print in the policy and hard feelings later, they end up splitting the costs through their own policies and deductibles, and because his policy had to pay for the damages to his vehicle, more fine print about no "Ford original" replacement parts, but aftermarket instead. My buddy was pretty upset.
