I installed a different driver's door on my 91 Ford F150. Door came from a salvage vehicle and I forgot to get the door key. I checked with the salvage yard (after the fact) and they don't keep keys from salvage vehicles.
I also don't know the VIN # from the salvage vehicle, although my auto parts store said VIN # is only good for newer vehicles and back 10 years if asking for a replacement key.
It's not a major problem to not have that key, as I can still unlock the passenger side door and hit the electric door unlock button. But I'd still like to get a key made and am wondering if a locksmith can provide a new key and if they can, what would be their cost estimate?
