Whew, glad you turned out OK. If the genny was charging hydrogen gas was being made and with just the right amount of hydrogen/oxygen mix inside the battery a spark will set it off. The conditions could have been almost right for an explosion for quite awhile but this time the conditions were right, and boom. I've never had one blow up but my son did and I heard it from our other farm down the road. I thought he shot something with the 12 gauge.
