That rake is a McCormick enclosed gear model. Cannot tell if 3 bar or 4 bar from picture. 3 bar started in 39, 4 bar in 40 and the 4 bar was in production untill about 58-60, would have to look at my books to be sure. I am thinking the 4 bar ended production in 60 and the 3 bar open gear rake-tedder ended production in 58. The 3 bar was discontinued a few years earlier as the 4 bar would do a better job of raking. Very few 3 bar were ever sold, only seen one and that is a parts rake setting here. A good 4 bar like that retails for around $800 up depending on condition. Very rough rakes like that I pay around $200 for and then do the rebuilding on top of that.
