B&D I just did some checking on the JD 4000. I have only worked on a few and there were not many around. Until the collectors went crazy on them they did not sell well around here. They had issues in the rear end. The transmission was a modified 4020 one. It just did not have the reverse synchronizers but did have the forward synchronizers.
I have driven them and they just seemed different in handling. I have owned several JD 2520s over the years and they just where a smoother tractor.
