Geo-Th,In florescent and CFL bulbs do have mercury inside. The LED replacement for florescent has no mercury or glass. I have had 3 CFL bulb go up in smoke and 2 Halogens explode. I have replaced all the Halogens with day light LED fixtures and have only 3 florescent fixtures to convert to LED. When my mercury vapor yard light goes out it will be replaced with a RAB Yardblaster LED fixture.
