Unfortunately I know two people that went through that ordeal. The first one I got to know after the fact. I'm guessing he was around 60 when afflicted. Got to know him several years later. He walks with difficulty. I'm not sure if it is related. The other was a young man about 30. There was a time all he could do on his own is blink his eyes. He communicated by people pointing to letters and he would blink. He had felt it coming on. Went to the doctor and told the doctor he felt like he would need to put on a respirator. The doctor brushed him off. Three days later he was on a respirator. He had a lengthy hospital stay followed lengthy recovery at home. He was on regular followup schedule for several years. He seems fine know. I would guess this is like all other afflictions, each one is different.
