: My neighbor's Case VAC's engine recently began : popping as he was mowing his field. The first : time it blew out his valve cover gasket; the next : time out flew the dipstick. It always happens : after it's been running a couple of hours. : Thinking it may have been a bad valve, we : checked compression. It was 80 - 90 lbs all : cylinders. Is there anything else to check : before we pull the head? : Also, he needs brake shoes (or bands) for the : tractor. But he's been told they are no : longer available. Anyone know of a source : for the shoes and other VAC parts? : : Thanks, : Howard : : checked compression (80-90 lbs all cylinders).
Seems to me that it is running to rich and allowing fuel into the crankcase and heat is causing detonation ??? Is there any black smoke during operation?
