Just to add to what fixerupper said.
I can remember back when I was a teen. My parents would take us to New Orleans Saints football games in the old Tulane University stadium. This was before the Superdome was built.
Anyway the Saints were playing the Minnesota Vikings. Some fans had come down to see their team play and visit New Orleans. While the temps were only in the upper 30's I can remember to this day some of those people talking about how cold it was down here.
We have more of a humid cold that chills you to the bone. No matter how thick of a coat you put on you are still cold.
