I went to Kindergarten thru the second grade. Our school went to the eighth grade. the last year I was in country school one of the eighth graders after graduation went down to general motors and started work. He said at the time he didn't see why he should go to high school if he was going to go to work at GM anyway. At that time I would say two thirds of the guys were graduating from high school was going to Dow Chemical or the Auto plants. Farm land was easy to rent or if you had the money to buy. So the other third went farming with their dads or struck out on their own. Or as you know, if you had a sweet heart you wanted to marry, That could or would change everything.
