I had exactly the opposite experience with the 3.7 Dodge motor. I had a 2002 short wheel base 1500 Ram that I put over 150,000 miles on it. It was not babied either. I pulled a 995 David Brown from North Wilkesboro, NC to western KY on a car hauler. Trailer and tractor probably weighed 8000# all together. Never dropped below 50 mph on long hills on I-40. I was amazed at how the engine and truck handled this load. I always used Castrol GTX oil in it and never had any engine problems at all. In fact, the truck was the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned.
