My first computer was a Franklin Ace 1000. It was an Apple II clone, and would run all the same software. It was less expensive than the Apple, and a complete system, including a 5.25" disc drive, monitor and printer, only set me back about $2,200! That was fairly serious money in 1982. I did get a lot of use out of it, mostly word processing.
