I have no idea why some operators pride themselves in how cold and engine will start, "with a little ether" and that they won't use a block heater. An outstanding example of "False Economy".
Use a block heater and end of problems. The engine will start like summer time. How does starter, battery and alternator wear compare when the engine cranks easy and starts in one rotation. Vs when the engine is cranked 20,30,40 seconds at a time?
How about cylinder wall washdown with raw fuel and crankcase oil dilution? Starting in one rotation instead of spraying raw unburned fuel for 20,30 40 seconds before starting ?
