I went out this afternoon and heated the casting around where the tap was broken off in the casting. I only have a small propane torch so it took quite awhile and didn't get all that hot. I then doused it with my mix of penetrating oil. Half mineral spirits and half ATF. I then used a pin punch and a hammer to work the tap around in the hole. First one way and then the other. Blew it out with air hose and doused it again. Repeat several times. After about 45 minutes to an hour I had the tap out without damaging the casting.
