No strange noise or anything, just all the sudden in neutral? This is not a real common problem for a 4L60E type trans. As long as the fluid level was fine before this happened, if the pump quit working then the fluid level would measure high on the stick. This could also mean that the filter broke or somehow fell off the pump intake and the pump is sucking air. Check the fluid level and condition, if its burnt smelling then something bad has already happened. If its real low or high you might be able to fix or band aid for awhile with a fluid service and filter ( keep fingers crossed )
