IF the ambent temp of the block is 70 degrees or better then just set them to factory spec.'s and they will be fine . And i am sure that your feel is not the same as mine . So if you have a slight to easy pull on the feeler gauge your good to go . As for a HOT set you will not be able to really do a HOT SET due to the fact that you would have to work the tractor to bring it up to full operating temp and by the time you got the pipe or muffler off as it will be at operating temp in otherr words really HOT then ya get the hood off then the valve cover and the air hits the rockers they are cooling down So in reality your back down to a cold set and with ware on the rocker shaft and the rocker arms you will never get a true set so just set them at the .017 and call it good .
