I hit one two years ago about this time of year - actually it jumped down from a raised bank and hit me! I knocked it back up into the air and hit it again on the hood.
I pulled over and a car coming from the other direction ran over it at about 70 mph and never slowed down - which really obliterated the poor deer and likely did that car no good (I saw it was a young man).
