I keep getting calls from the NRA suggesting that it is time to renew my membership. When I explain to them that I haven't been a member since 1964, they say "Oh no, your last membership was 2009." Then I ask why have I not received American Rifleman magazine? How they got my name and address after all these years I have no idea. I have bought an sold a number of guns during that time, but I haven't been an NRA member since 1964 when I got out of the Navy. BTW when I relate to them that in the 1950's the NRA was a very strong lobby for gun safety and gun control, they flatly deny it. However, the fact is that they were a very strong advocate of controlling cheap "Saturday night specials" i.e. .25 cal. snub nose which sold for about $25 at the time.
