Many years ago, working at a marina, pulled the intake off a 283 Chevy engine in a cruiser. This was a late 50's, early 60's model with a 4 barrel Rochester carb.
Those old carbs had a big screw, probably a 3/8 x 2" slot head screw in the center of the base, screwed in from the bottom. The screw had fallen out and wedged it's self standing on end in one of the intake runners!
What are the odds of that happening! Just wasn't that engines day to die! LOL
