I was being discharged from the Marine Corps on Sunday, November 24, 1963 at MCAS, Beaufort, SC. After lunch, the Colonel called me into his office to try to talk me out of leaving the Corps. All the way home on Sunday and Monday I listened to news events and the funeral on the car radio.
