It wasn't quite a rental deal more like a squatter. I was involved in burning a house down once in order to keep a bad news guy from coming back to it. The town had taken the property for back taxes, but they couldn't get the guy to move out and no one wanted to push it very hard. Finally the guy went away to the big house for a few months, and the selectmen saw their opportunity. They asked the fire department to burn the house down while he was away. The chief picked a day during the week when it was snowing hard. Within an hour it was leveled and we were gone, and the bad apple had no place to settle back into when he got out.
