I would start by checking the temps of both coolant pipes running back the rear unit, its located on the LH side so look for the pipes along the frame. They should both be hot or near engine temps. If one is not hot or significantly cooler than other you might have trapped air or a restricted heater core. If both are hot then you might have a blend door actuator problem. The temp blend door actuator switches a door on the rear unit from hot to cold. I've seen plenty of actuators fail on GM products.
