I changed over my dad's WD45 about 10 years ago. (and a few other tractors too) I used a Delco Remy 10-SI alternator with internal regulator. I would recommend to find one with a lower amp output around 37, 42, or maybe a 55 amp maximum. (the lower output alternators seem to put out more amps at the lower RPM they will run on our old tractors than the high output ones will.) These alternators are a popular conversion. They are inexpensive and reliable. There is a "self exciting" regulator available for this alternator that will only require one wire connected the alternator instead of 3 wires for the regular regulator.
