As someone who wants to have my own land, the prices can't crash fast enough. Farmer who owned the barn and land around my house wanted $15-20,000/acre for 80 acres. That's $1.2-1.6 MILLION. I can't afford that, and neither can anyone else. He passed away almost 2 years ago now, local custom guy rents the ground from his widow.
He seems alright and my wife is friends with his sister-in-law. Dad and I were just putting some equipment in a rented shed today. Another older farmer, somewhere in his 80's, and sharp as a tack. Half tempted to ask him about his land. About the only way I can get a leg up in accomplishing my dream is wait for the markets to drop and land values to tank, while I work on saving up some sort of money.
