I used to have a Sam's membership for a few years. Closest one is 90 miles away. Closest town with small shopping is 30 miles away. It's often several weeks between supply runs/any trip to town, used to go down there. Pricing stuff, didn't save much. Small stuff like milk, eggs, cheaper at the small grocery store in town. Gas used to save a bit. But, much more variety down there (or in any bigger town). Bulk items and stuff not available around here, it was worth it, but I agree, shouldn't have to pay for the "honor" to shop there.
