We have a complimentary membership in Sam's Club through our daughter's membership, but I see no point in shopping there, for the most part. If you compare prices, there are a lot of things that are actually priced lower at your local Walmart.
For the casual customer, they're nothing more than a gimmick. People flock to them because they think they'll get a good deal, but the good deals usually only exist on large bulk purchases. When we recently celebrated our 50th anniversary, we did buy some items at Sam's Club because of the quantity, but for several large sheet cakes the bakery at one of our local Super Saver groceries were better cakes and a far lower price. And the employees were more fun to deal with.
I won't even go into the time Sam's Club tried a bait and switch on me for a set of tires.
